How to introduce a new guinea pig to my sisters hamster?

I was wondering what a good way to introduce the new guinea pig i am getting to my sisters dwarf hamster. I am not sure yet if the guinea pig will be male or female but the hamster is female and quite old.

Thanks!

Why would you? Size difference is a major issue. What if the guinea pig nips at the hamster? For a dwarf hamster, that can be fatal, whether the guinea pig intended harm or not.

They should be kept separate at all times.

are you introducing them so that they dont see each other at a distance and get scared or something?

You can put their cages size by side but beyond that I wouldn’t do much. They are different animals, different sizes, and really not supposed to be best buds.

    NO DONT !!!

the guinea-pig will eat the hamster – or the hamster will bite the pig

they are both rodents but they don’t get along

you can have them meet as long as you are holding your guinea pig and your sister is holding her hamster. beyond that theres nothing else you can do. if you want your guinea pig to have a friend get another guinea pig.

    DON’T
    BELIEVE ME
    THEY WILL KILL EACH OTHER!!!!!

    hamsters are solitary
they will kill each other over food and territory
    and b/c they are bored
instinct is too powerful for even the nicest hamsters and guinea pigs to get along
only chinese dwarf hamsters need “friends”
they need only other chinese dwarfs they’ve been with since a VERY early age

not a good idea this can result in death of the hamster

    Hi,

guinea pigs should never be introduced to hamsters.. hamsters are quite territorial and can get hurt from the guinea pigs due to it’s size.

    Kind Regards
