Color me stupid, but don’t the mom eat the placenta as each kitten is born?

Let the cats go man they don’t need your help…… She is too busy right now to worry about hunger but she will eat when it’s all over.

my cat gave birth to 5 kittens about 3 and a half hours ago and she still hasn’t eaten two of the placentas. and those two kittens were born first. they’re all alive and feeding, but im considering cutting them off myself too if she doesn’t eat them soon.

normally the mother will attend to her kittens as soon possible there might be a reason the mother will not care for the young ( its sad but it happens) i say sterilize the scissors well with bleach then cut them out wipe them with a wet wash cloth very slowly and carefully make sure they r breathing and put them next to their mother to feed if she rejects them you will have three options
1. euthanize the rejected kittens ( i hate that option but it is there)
2. find a foster mother soon
3.hand rear them
no matter which option you choose speak to your vet and get info
